Does anyone know what's going on in Montgomery County today? There are several tg's designated as district major incident channels & the emergency communications center channel that are being used for dispatch, also there have been at least two gun calls & a hostage call in the past few hours. I'm not sure if this is a training exercise day, some test of the radio system, or a re-alignment of the talkgroups. Anyone have any info?

I don't know if it's related, but in the past (490 MHz) when they had a major incident they usually kept the major incident on the district dispatch channel and moved all other normal operations to a tactical channel (channel 6 or 7 back in the day). So, they could be doing something similar now with the Major Incident talkgroups.

I was listening to that yesterday. They were putting out some weird call such as “@ street address (Jane Doe) said that her son took her car with out permission. Look out for a Mercedes S600 Silver in color w/ a 13yo male wearing green cam-flash shirt and pants w/ handcuffs and legs chains.”. I want to say Dispatch training or new officer’s training I really don’t know.

The Disp / Training was on:

32240 - Dis5 MAJOR INC
32272 - Dis6 MAJOR INC
13968 - ECC

The traffic you are hearing is training for new dispatchers. As there is only one training talkgroup reserved for that purpose, the normally dormant incident talkgroups are used when more than one is needed.
