Domestic violence murder suspect has history of murder - WSFA 12 News Montgomery, AL |
This morning while driving into Montgomery, I heard a BOLO on a blue Jeep Cherokee from 600-block of Pennsylvania Avenue in North Montgomery. Capital Heights area to be exact.
Subject had a gun. Officers found his wife outside shot in her side. Reported to have shot her as she tried to escape.
Then the perp fled in a blue older Jeep Cherokee.
Montgomery Police officer rolled onto the street not a minute after the BOLO. All of a sudden an officer came onto the radio "Subject Down - Subject Shot". In all my years of scanning, I've never heard an officer report that he/she had shot one.
Sadly, the man's wife died around 11:00 central. The perp, her husband was in critical condition with two bullet wounds to the leg.
MPD officer narrowly missed being shot. The officer was slightly injured by flying glass that I will guess came from the perp's rifle.
Perp was released from Alabama prisons in 2007 for murdering a woman in 1987 in neighboring Elmore County. That victim had the same last name as his...may have been his wife.
So now this dirt-bag has two deaths to his credit.
Just so glad the officer acted quickly and survived.
