Does anyone know if the new Harris P-25 Digital 800 MHz. system is up and running yet in Montgomery?
Has anyone heard any traffic on the new system & will the current trunking scanners be able to pick them up?
Will the DSD software decode the control channels on on the new P-25 system?
I assume that all of the analog TG's will change ID no's when they move to the new Harris P-25 system.
I assume that the new Harris P-25 system will be similar to the new Harris P-25 system that is being installed in Rome, GA.
Does anyone know if the two systems will be the same type systems?
There is nothing in the RRDB on the system yet.

I heard that it won't be operational until sometime this fall (October 1 was the original date.)

I put all the frequencies in my scanner and listen in from time to time on my way to and from work. So far, I haven't picked up any new control channels.

I suspect that all users are going to get new talkgroups. I'm not sure if they'll keep the same radio ID block sequence or not.

From what i've been told (no first hand knowledge), we should be able to pick up this P-25 system just fine. I haven't heard how much, if any, will be encrypted.

Went through Montgomery headed to Huntsville and back south again on I 65. Let me tell you it is quite up in Montgomery as far as my scanner goes. I did notice I was getting some beeps come across the Montgomery City 800 mhz Fire Channels. Just no Audio. I was able to hear 2 calls by the Montgomery Sheriff also on 800 mhz with no problems. I was able to hear a rural fire unit also on 800 mhz . I was also able to Hear the Capital Police also on 800 mhz. A far as any Ham Radio Repeaters noting on 146.840 or 147.180 or the DStar Repeater. I came though Friday Afternnon arround 4pm and them back south Saturday arround 9pm. I did hear a ambulance say they were out at Jackson Hospital on a 151 or 153 frequency. I did not write it down because I was driving.

the Montgomery system is 99.999% Provoice now.. everything except VFDSs & a few MA /interop channels.. that's why I fear all ENC when the P25 system comes on the air

Montgomery County P-25.
Any updates on the Harris P-25 system upgrade for the Montgomery County EDACS system.
Does anyone know if the new Harris P-25 Digital 800 MHz. system is up and running yet in Montgomery?
Has anyone heard any traffic on the new system?
Last Info posted is that some of the users or first responders were scheduled to start migrating over to the P-25 system in September or October 2012.
Some of the users will continue to use the EDACS system for a while.
The P-25 system is going to use the existing tower infrastructure as the existing legacy LMR system uses.
A new tower site will be co-located with Troy University and will enable greater coverage in the south and east of the county.
The P-25 system will have three simulcast sites and two multi-cast sites.

I listen to the EDACS system almost every day and its still active.

I have all of the frequencies programmed in using P25 mode, and I haven't picked up anything, not even a control channel. I heard that the implementation had been delayed.

is there no way to get and program a scanner to listen in on these new freqs?

For the rebanded frequencies, you can program them in to any scanner that will let you monitor EDACS (see here for the frequencies.)

Unfortunately, the MPD, MFD and MCSO are 100% ProVoice digital (except for one MCSO dispatcher console), and no scanner will demodulate the ProVoice digital transmissions. You can use DSD or DSD4WIN to demodulate the audio, but that requires a scanner with a discriminator tap that is hooked to a computer.

MCVFD is still analog, though.

This system is going through an upgrade process. Whenever its done, it will be APCO P-25 digital and is monitorable by a scanner, provided the agencies that use the system don't encrypt their transmissions.

I picked up P25 control channels tonight on Montgomery's assigned frequencies.

The first one was the new 5 channel system that was added to the Montgomery page on rr.com. The control channel tonight is 854.5625.

I also scanned the existing EDACS frequencies and found another P25 control channel. That frequency is 856.7625.

I've attached a pdf file that contains PRO96COM screen shots of the data from both control channels.

Also, the existing LCNs for the EDACS system have changed. I have one confirmed LCN now (the control channel) and i'll work on finding out the LCNs for the rest of the frequencies.

The Montgomery Zoo also has begun using the EDACS system - TG 1153.

Additional information:

LCN 4 is confirmed at 856.7125. Its currently the control channel.

The "new" EDACS system has nine frequencies. Besides the one frequency i've confirmed, I've seen EDACS activity (analog and digital) on 857.0125, 854.0125, 855.8625, 857.2875, 854.0125, 854.3375, 854.8375, 855.4875. I'm not sure how they are arranged in LCN order yet.

Warren, I'll program the "new" EDACS in up here on the off chance I can catch it. Maybe one problem, the frequency 857.2875 (I think you have it as LCN 7) is the current CC for the State EDACS trs on Mt. Cheaha. So I maybe out of luck around here.
I'll also put the P25 CC's just for kicks.

This is the same LCN that I have been using for the past couple years, the original system had 17 freq but only the 9 have been active. I have not notice anything different lately, unless I am missing something? Please see attachment.

Been off the forum for a while. I remember when MPD dispatch was EDACS analog as well as the Sheriff. Is this still the case? Thanks - Merry Christmas!!
