I will be traveling to Montreal in few weeks and would like to monitor Le Réseau de Sécurité Publique. There are around 20 sites in the Montréal region and I was just wondering if certain emergency services are linked to certain site (tower)? Let me know.

Montreal Fire Department is on a P25 system not Edacs. Montreal Police are on straight 400 not trunked. Urgences Sante is on the Edacs system as is Longueuil Police and Fire. Laval police and fire are ecrypted and not scannable.

Make sure to monitor site 1 which is a simul-cast from three tower sites on the Island of Montreal. This way you will be sure not to mist any "Urgences Santé" broadcast. Also Longueuil FD are dispatch from Site 1.

Ok thanks. Does the Uniden BC246T has the capability to moitoring a simul cast tower?

Sure, just monitor site # 1 of the Montreal RSP and you won't have anything to do, the EDACS system is broadcasting the exact same thing on the same frequencies from 3 tower sites on the island.

Hey, Mark. Not scannable, no, but likely not encrypted. They use M/A-COM's non-interoperable ProVoice digital format. Here in OKC, they are doing the same. Well, Laval and OKC could interoperate, I guess.

End result is the same - you can't hear them.

In the 1980s, when they were on 142 MHz analog, they were pretty boring, so you may not be missing much!

Let's see ... 142.935 for fire back in the day?
