Montreal-use of mobile extender/vehicular repeater in all police car ?

Any 1 have infos regarding the use of mobile extender and/or vehicular repeater in SPVM police car. Don't even know if they use it. i only know comm is clear in 400Mhz band.
inputs appreciated.

Montreal police (SPVM) doesn't use any vehicular repeater.

The Sûreté du Quebec does in everyone of their patrol cars, that's why you see a second small 4 inches UHF antenna on the trunk.

do you know if every1 of them (ie. policeman) use mobile extender equipment to link to their car equipment when they step out of it ?
i am exploring ways to detect their presence
