Which one of you did this?

According to a report from the Daily Caller, a 70-year-old California man flew his Mooney aircraft over Area 51 and is currently awaiting a call from the Department of Defense.

In a series of voicemails, the pilot told the Daily Caller he successfully flew over the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) within Nellis Air Force Base, commonly referred to as Area 51, and is now anticipating repercussions from authorities. The man also stated he believes his pilot certificate will be suspended.

According to the pilot, he made the flight in order to test “frequencies” in the restricted airspace.

Should've ran a broadband SDR or nearfield receiver with recording and then posted it around for everyone to investigate, or at the very least a 536hp in discovery mode. All that pilots license and answering machines wasted for nothing.

When you get to a certain age, you realize that the government cannot do much of value to punish you.

Shoot him down? It took days before a president decided to shoot down a balloon and there was some outrage about that. If the USAF had killed an elderly citizen, the optics would have been terrible.

Prison? No more rent or mortgage payments. No more taxes, food bills, or medical costs.

Probation? Big deal.

Administrative? The FAA isn't likely to renew his Airman license, even if he never contemplated doing anything.

After a while of osteoarthritis and a nagging spouse, one stops caring.
