Just a question about who's on the Moose frequency (151.1600). I'll admit to not having the tone locked to 136.5 PL (I never set it for I was to lazy) but none the less for the longest time I have only observed emergency services on that frequency. But lone and behold the other day while scanning, I could have sworn there was a Mountie, Sheriff or MD 44 Patrol who using it for 10-70(are you ok?) checks, dispatch and then someone went 10-35(off duty). Ever since that little bit of odd chatter it have never herd of it/them since.

I'm guessing it was maybe some type of cross feed from the RCMP PACS system? & no "CC" was not active. If it matters anyhow, I was on the TC westbound at around 3:00 pm near Calaway Park.

I'm also going to assume that Jay911 will know the answer :p

Hah! Hopefully :p is a good thing. :D

Odds are, what you're hearing is the Black Diamond bylaw enforcement folks. FREMS Dispatch handles them on the same frequency as the Fire/EMS comms.

Speaking of FREMS, here's a tidbit - a FREMS employee has told me that the "Foothills West" repeater has died and is not likely to be repaired. I guess coverage is good enough on the other channels like Moose and Hartell. Makes sense why we're hearing the ambulances on the fire channels.

Can't say that I have heard any Peace Officers on 151.16. I know it is a little ways north, but the Cochrane repeaters for RCMP have been acting up [open squelch noise] for a couple of weeks. Did hear Nakoda Ambulance on Cochrane RCMP freq., but can't say that I have ever heard the reverse [ie: police on fire/ambulance freqs.] in the Calgary area.

Nakoda EMS, Cochrane Fire EMS, Redwood Meadows Emergency Services, and other agencies local to the area have the RCMP radio frequency with the RCMP's permission, for interoperability purposes.

I believe the squelch/noise on the Cochrane area repeaters as of late is indicative of the age of the equipment and its condition. I'm betting the new system can't come soon enough for the Mounties!

The law enforcement type transmissions heard on 151.16 are the bylaw officers in the employ of the towns of Black Diamond and Turner Valley. The callsign is "Black Diamond 1", usually.
