Ok Currently in Etrunker while monitoring my local (Washoe County Regional Communication System, Reno Nevada) EDACS with Etrunker, I have about 35 channels of patches.

My GRE radio doesn't tell me if what I'm listening to is a patch or not. One of the guys from this board came to my store and looked at Etrunker as he had never seen it in operation and commented on the amount of patches being reported in Etrunker. His radio(s) is(are) Unidens which apparently report whether you are listening to a patch or not. And he says he doesn't see that much patch activity.

So what is going on? Which is correct? What could possibly be "confusing" Etrunker into thinking the channel is a patch? With our recent radio reprogramming do I need to remove all the patches out of the DB so Etrunker will see the now-new channel as a "G" group over a "P" patch?

That does bite GRE neglected to mention what type of call it is be it Moto or EDACS.

Anyhow, with EDACS patches there is a difference in announcing the patch (versus Motorola). Basically the system creates a GID at the lowest or highest point in the GID table. This is the patch (or "alias") id you want to listen to for the patch when it is active. It's essentially a virtual id in that at some point it could be used for some other set of patched groups (I don't know the lifespan).

In the background over the control channel the system tells radios that <x> GID is aliased to this new patch id. The radios operate as normal but listen for the patch GID.
