More scanner than I can understand in one bite

Thats what my AOR scanner is!!

I love it but if i didnt have the book telling me how to do stuff,I WOULD BE LOST :D (Once you get to understand it,you dont need the book but man oh man @ first YOU SHURE DO!!)

A wonderfull scanner-- Goes from .1Mhz to 3000Mhz


Just how high up is there anything??

Like whats the highest ANALOGUE VOICE COMMUNICATION,does anyone have any idea?


There really isnt any limit is there?? (There could be stuff @ 1000000Mhz or higher for all we know!!)

There isn't much of anything to listen to above 960 MHz, so scanners that go that high are mostly a waste of time. Notable exceptions are amateur around 1.2 GHz and 2.3 GHz. There's a smattering of 12 oo MHz ham repeaters, mostly in populated areas, and any activity on 2.3 GHz is likely to be SSB.

Pretty much everything else is going to be digital and/or multiplexed, and a scanner isnt going to demod that stuff.

The other factor that's going to make it highly unlikely you'll hear anything is, the performance of the scanner isn't likely to be anywhere near good enough to hear the weak-signal amateur stuff that's out there. It takes some effort.

In some areas of the US there is considerable 10,000 mHz (10 gHz) ham activity, all of it point-to-point using dishes. A story about the subject appears in the August issue of QST magazine. There is also a ton of commercial activity using point-to-point systems in the gigaHertz range. Sometimes the licenses for these systems appear in the FCC listings for individual companies.

Most of that activity occurs around the VHF/UHF contests and the 10 GHz and Up contest in August and September.

Yep. The microwave bands are FULL of signals.

And NONE of it, including the 10 GHz amateur stuff, is listenable to the casual scanner listener without some degree of technical skill, and a great deal of effort.
