Lindsay first off, thanx for putting the index for the SWL/HF page up on the Wiki - I was wondering how I was going to do that....

I wrote about this earlier; one thing I dislike about the Wiki is that there's no apparent way to announce on the RR main page that changes have been applied, somewhat like what is done with the RRDB. 2 links in a toolbar and frame just doesn't cut it. There's nothing here to draw folks in and let them wander about to use it, nor anything there to tell them what pages are present.

Is there something that can be done about this? You can't expect folks to use the Wiki if no one shows them it's being used.

I agree with this. It would be nice if new info was highlited or put in a different color for a period of time. This might help direct the eye to the newest info if that is what someone is looking for...

Also, the Hurrican Katrina Wiki is top notch!! Thanks to all that contributed!

How about just putting Wiki changes in as a news item? Or am I the only one who looks at the news items?

No, I always check the news items to see if something is up in my state (Maryland). Your suggestion is a good one 73s Mike

I think you misunderstand the need - that still won't bring any more traffic to the Wiki, since no one will see this section unless they hit the links on the main page. What you did for the Katrina Wiki is exactly the sort of thing that is needed to highlight changes (but as a news item, as Al has suggested).

Unless something catches a newcomer's eye about the Wiki (changes, ect.) that person will totally overlook it. The numerous questions that have been answered in the HF forum by pointing folks to the Wiki is a prime example of why the lack of visibility causes folks to overlook it.

In any case, let me know when you are ready to test; I have a few things I want to add to that HF page, which is rather threadbare (to put it politely) insofar as any details are concerned (particularly noteworthy is the lack of mention of the 5 mhz freqs we are now allowed to use...I'll have that fixed in a New York Minute :D )

73s and thanx...Mike

For what its worth --- I spend HOURS a day on this site... and about 20 seconds on the WIKI.

I don't get it yet (the whole WIKI thing) and I think I'm pretty smart.

First thing was --- I guess I wasn't even signed it --- never saw anything. Assumed that my current sign-in would work there too.

Once I signed up.... I see more now... but I still must be missing something.
