hello, i heard recently the morgan county edacs system was rebanded and had all new frequencies (some time around the holidays). does anyone have this information? i know there is an fcc page with this info, but i wasn't sure if they would be in the correct sequences (and i can't remember where to find that). sorry if my terminology is a little off, i'm no expert. i also have a scanner specific question about edacs. i know i need all the different sites in different banks on my scanner (pro-164), so do i also need to program the talkgroups into every bank? and do i need to do them all or can i put in just what i need? thanks for any help.

You can try running Unitrunker. Also The EDACS format of trunking will discontinued ( dropped comletely in 2013. 1 EDACS system I now in Montgomery(AL) is moving to Harris) P25 very soon

Any idea when Morgan County is supposed to make the switchover to Project 25? I'll have to let my friends in Hartselle know they will need to reprogram their Uniden 996XT.

Morgan County EDACS

The system has been rebanded. The actual infrastructure rebanding was completed around Dec 1, 2010.

Here are the new freqs and LCN per site

Flint Site - Site Number 16

Ch 1 851.8125
Ch 2 852.0625
Ch 3 852.3125
Ch 4 854.4625
Ch 5 855.0625
Ch 6 855.3375
Ch 7 855.7625
Ch 8 856.2125
Ch 9 856.9125
Ch 10 857.2125

City Hall Site - Site Number 17

Ch 1 856.4875
Ch 2 856.9875
Ch 3 857.4875
Ch 4 854.7375

Brindlee Mtn - Site Number 20

Ch 1 855.7375
Ch 2 854.2875
Ch 3 855.0875

As far as P25 is concerned, I can assure you, this system won't be going there anytime soon.

Is the Morgan County EDACS TRS, part of the State of Alabama TRS using the same wide-area system architecture?

Is the Falkville site currently online? They are licensed for the following frequencies under WQKW734:

  • 851.5625
  • 851.7875
  • 852.8875
  • 853.1125
  • 853.2000

Likewise, there is a site listed for Morgan City, under the license of WPUW998:

  • 854.2875
  • 855.0875
  • 855.7375
  • 859.9875
  • 860.9625

Is this site active?

The Falkville site is not online... and not sure it will be anytime soon. The one listed for Morgan City is the same as Brindlee Mtn. The Brindlee site is only three channels. Two of the frequencies were moved to the Flint Site several years ago to add capacity.

5 of the frequencies at the Flint (South Decatur, Mill St, whatever you want to call it) site are licensed to the State of Alabama (DPS). I know all of the DPS units have the Morgan Co sites in their radios but they seldom use them. The frequencies for the site at City Hall are also licensed to the State of Alabama (DPS). Again, very little, if any use.

I was wondering why I was no longer picking up the data channel for this system. Thanks for the update! But, it seems some of the talkgroups have changed as well. Either that or they're incorrect in the DB.

Most of them are the same. EMS Dispatch in Decatur is now on TG 751. There is a patch to County Fire on TG 607. Other than those two, pretty much same place, different day.

Ah ok, those were actually the two I was wondering about. All the others seem to be the same.

To permanently license what had been an Special Temporary Authority. The site was originally licensed at a different location and was moved. We had to get an STA and keep renewing it until Rebanding was complete. Now that it is complete, we can finally permanently license it.

New radio license filed for the Morgan County TRS.

FCC Application
