Hi,
I listen to the Morris Co. Trunking System and notice there are zones for certain areas of the county. Should I program all 4 zones so I am able to get good reception everywhere or just the zone closest to my home town? Thanks!

If it's a stationary scanner, like at your house. I would select either Zone 1 or 2, whichever is closest.

If it's for a vehicle, i'd put them all in.

Be careful of putting all the frequencies in the same system (or site if it is a 996). The scanner can lock onto a control channel further away causing intermittent reception problems.

For scanners other than the 996, program each zone as a separate system, then lock out all except the closest one to you.
For the 996 program each zone a a separate site under the same system, then lock out all sites except the closest.

Site 1 covers basically south of Rt 80 with the exception of sw Washington Twp and se part of the county near Long Hill & Great Swamp.

Site 2 covers north of Rt 80

Site 3 covers sw corner of the county (Washington Twp)

Site 4 covers the se corner of the county (Long Hill, Gilette, Great Swamp)

There is overlap coverage so it is possible in some locations a different site may be stronger.

Okay, thanks. I have all four zones in one scan list, but as four different systems (ie. Morris Co Zone 1, Zone 2, etc.) I locked out zones 2, 3, and 4. If I am traveling around the county, is it easy to unlock them?
Thanks!
