Interesting - Chatham Township Police (45 Car) is using SmartConnect in their HQ on their APX8000s because the move to 700 has left their building with worse coverage than before.

Update: Was by Chester and RT206 new sub site MIRS. MW antenna is up and looked like antennas too. SA showed signal level about -95 and up. So not turned up quite yet. Must be getting close.

Somerset no MW. Few weeks ago saw a fiber truck in vicinity right near the service driveway. Who knows. No signal either.

I'll have to take a ride through with the work car and see what the radio says. Like I mentioned previously, the signal literally fell off a cliff and Somerset was better, but needed improvement in my opinion. So let's see once this baby is fired up.

NJICS I had coverage on mobile all the way down 206, I think Pluckemin was what I was affiliated too and prior to that it was the Washington Water tower when in Chester at Main/206.

Indeed, it seems as if the site in center of the Village must be low, I saw the exact same thing. Headed south on back side of ridge the MIRS signal really dropped off. Yes Somerset came up too. I believe that there is fair elevation and a path to Somerset.

MIRS signal south on Route 206 from Chester, I saw very little better than
-95 dB, seems like new site should carry down to Route 287. Yes, we shall see.

Confirmed site is live. Full bars to the County line down 206. Actually had RSSIs in the 60's and 70's all through Peapack and coverage down to 78. And that was on portable in a cup holder. I didn't get a change to check Somerset or do any other testing unfortunately. But I will say the Chester folks will be pleased.

There was someone from one of the municipalities on here a few months ago complaining extensively about the 700 system, and it's horrendous in building coverage compared to the UHF system which was dismantled. Assuming this new site will take care of that problem in that part of the county. But what about the rest of the county? (If his complaints are to be believed)

State, County, Municipality. This is the hierarchy. The County or State need only make an advisory notice of intentions. No actual Municipal board application or approval is required for an inherently beneficial use to the public if I am not mistaken. The NIBMY folks can be thwarted should fortitude exist. I know what I would do.
