Morris County Confusion

I'm a little confused about programming my 750XLT for Morris County.

Do I program it by the tower, zones, what?? There's a lot of frequencies do I program them all. There are also a lot of control channels as well.

I live in the western part of Morris Co. what do I program?

Hi Bob,

There are 3 zones that the system uses (I've heard they are going to add a 4th zone this year).

Zone 3 is pretty localized to the Washington Twp area.
Zone 1 covers basically the southern part of the county (south of 80)
Zone 2 covers the northern part (north of 80)

Depending on where you live you would program in the frequencies for that zone.

Now you will only hear the analog talkgroups (MAPS, MUA< road dept,etc). You will not hear the sheriff, prosecutor, or park police units as they are digital. You would need a Uniden 785, 250, 296, 796, or Radio Shack 96 scanner to decode digital.

If I program Zone 3 (wash Twp.) will I hear all the analog, or just comms in that zone.

Depends on if any vehicles for that talkgroup are in that zone. Since it is designed for a small coverage area there may not be a vehicle in that zone and therefore the system will not transmit on that zone.

If you can pick up zone 1 you would be better off.

If you look you the thread ( More Morris County ) the correct information is posted there. I was haivng the same problem before I programmed the correct information. Also Where I am monitoring in Harrison NJ the system comes in like crap. I am interested in the Road Department
when it snow and the old high band system came in great the new system is at best 3x3.

Yes, sites that would have coverage to the east are using antennas with directional patterns and downtilt to prevent co-channel interference, therefore reduced coverage east.
