what do i tune my scanner to since they changed?? it used to be 465.0250 and 460.0250 any help will be great

If you don't have a digital-capable trunk-tracking scanner, you will not be able to hear them (or anything out of Morristown that's emergency-service related).

Sometimes tthere are blurbs in the local newspapers about switching. Sometimes not.

No ryyme or reason.

Okay thanks. Has anyone been listening to Morristown? They don't seem to be doing/saying much. Odd for Morristown.

Boonton Twp FD

Yesterday BT had a fire call and was transmitting on FD1. The county shuffled the TG's a week or so ago and they are listed as FD2 now. When one of their trucks signed on FD2 the comm center told them to go to FD1. Anyone know whats up with this?

I think that was a bad idea to move Morris Twp. to PD 5. Morristown had a home invasion last week and an officer was trying to broadcast a description and Morris Twp. was interfering with a burglar alarm.

I don't live up there but, couldn't you blame that on the dispatcher for not directing one of the PD's to a channel 2 TG. Down here if there is something going on the dispatcher will direct all other PD's to Channel 2 TG until the important call is done.

A few observations this past week. New Vernon FD was still on FIRE-1, not 4. Boonton Twp and Mountain Lakes Fire were on FIRE-1 as well. Chatham Twp and Boro FD's are still using FIRE-2, not 4. So, it seems that a few have either not made the witch yet, or they changed things around again. Anyone?

Also noticed that St. Claires units for Mt. Arlington and Randolph were signed in to County on EMS-2 not 1.

Loud Siren ????

Quick question to those of you that have the inside scoop on things at the MC Comm's center. Often when the dispatcer has the mic key'd and is talking to a unit (could be on any talkgroup). You can hear a loud siren go off sometimes in the backround,it's loud!!! anyone else notice, but my question is what is it. ??? it sounds like a mechanical siren (sort of) .It isnt that there window is open and its coming from the street outside(its not that kind of sound) .its inside the room with the dispatcher its got to be!! I have also heard this same sound on MONOC disp freq.for the EMS units on there freq.Anyone know or am i just losing my mind!! also im not talking about the dispatch tones, when a page goes out, cause i know someone gonna suggest that.

It's just a .wav file of the Red Alert sound from the the Start Trek TV series and they must have it associated with an event on one of the computers. Nothing critical.

In the County I previously worked in, we had a siren sound associated to the Sentinel PSAP for 911 calls. The screen also flashed with red and blue lights revolving. Very attention getting, especially at 3am.

Hi All,

Tomorrow Morris County will be shuffling Fire Departments around on the Fire Response talkgroups and FD Response 4 will be going active. Here's the new lineup:

Fire Response 1
Chester, Mendhan Boro, Mendhan Twp, Randolph,

Fire Response 2
Boonton Twp, Mine Hill, Mtn Lakes, Rockaway Boro, Wharton

Fire Response 3
Mt Arlington, Netcong, Roxbury

Fire Response 4
Chatham Boro, Chatham Twp, Harding, Morris Plains, Morris Twp, Morristown

EMS is not moving off EMS 1 at this time.

ABOVE IS THE LATEST LINE-UP. BELOW IS WHAT I'VE BEEN HEARING. MAY BE DUE TO THE DELAY IN PROGRAMMING...

UPDATE...Green Village FD units were using FIRE 2 along with the Chathams.

Also noticed that St. Claires units for Mt. Arlington and Randolph were signed in to County on EMS-2 not 1.

Now hearing Roxbury Fire (EMS units) using EMS-2 now along with Mine Hlll. Chester, Boonton-Kiwanis, the Mendhams were using EMS-1.
Morristown and Minutemen were using EMS-3. It appears they may have starting to split EMS up now as well. Anyone have a confirmed breakdown?
