I heard a few analog transmissions last night around 10:30 on 00848 - any body else come across this TGID yet?

To me it sounded like 'official business' type of traffic, not DPW or Road Dept. stuff...(the usual users you find on mix-mode systems)

I understand all county agencies have moved over to the new mixed mode 4.1 system. I'll have to fire up the scanner and listen in.

Thus far I have only heard the Park Police, Sheriff's Department and what I assume could be the Prosecutor's Office (encrypted transmissions). The County DPW is still using the VHF frequency (151.055). I'll have to program that talkgroup in and see if I hear anything.

Does anyone have any information as to when the municpalities currently dispatched by the County are switching over to the new system (Netcong, Wharton, Rockaway Borough, Mt Arlington & Mendham Borough) as I believe that was part of the original plan?

I heard a dispatch last night on the digital side of the system sending an officer to a noise complaint at a bar in Wharton. The dispatch took place on COMM-2.

I'm not quite sure how the unit designators work up there. It could have been a local Wharton car...

Saw in today's paper that there was a large fight involving between 75-100 people at a bar in Wharton Saturday night and several surrounding agencies including units from the County were dispatched to help out. So it was probable the Park Police or Sheriff units you heard.

This was the initial dispatch I heard. The dispatcher said it was a noise complaint coming from the Wharton Garden Apts, unsure what bar it was (caller did not state). It was not a priority call for assistance to other officers...

Comm-2 appears to be a mix of County Sheriff and Park PD units primary dispatch. 4 digit units are Park PD

Hi SCott,

They are now dispatching towns on the system? That was quick!
I didn't think they had budgeted in the cost of radios for the municipalities.

I'll have to give a listen.

I drove by Wharton's PD and I didn't see any 400MHz whips on any of their cars. Are they using portables?

Just heard on 39.02, 18 car being dispatched to EMS call, and on 46.02
39 car dispatched. Mt. Arlington had a legal notice in the local paper, awhile back looking for bids on new radios for the system. So, I guess the
locals provide the radios and the County the system?

I've only heard cars so far that have 9xxx series identifiers. It's a good bet it's still just county officers for right now...

Park Police units are 4 digit units (91xx)
Sheriff Department units are 2 digit (39, 52, etc)

I do not believe that the local town have switched over to the TRS yet as I am still hearing them being dispatched by the County on 46.02 and 39.02.

Caught what sounded like radio repair on talkgroup 00176 in Analog today. Referenced a radio test. I was in the car so I couldn't hit the Hold button fast enough to catch the rest of the conversation though. There's another thread on this site that references this talkgroup as possibly the County Garage so maybe they're next?

Over the weekend, I noted the following:

TG 00016 Heard the MC Comm Center asking all units to check their portables since someone (an unidentified radio user) had hit the emeregency button. This is either a countywide group call or the emergency channel. I know that the Sheriff cars do not have the DPW TG's programed into their radio but do have an emergency channel. Any input?

I know that the Sheriff's vehicles Channel one is CGCOM (County Government COMM) is this a countywide group call?

I believe all county units have the emergency talkgroup programmed in.
The unit alias should have shown up at dispatch.

The Emegency button is not a chanel or a talkgroup but a panic button on the radio that when hit sends the radio unit information to the dispatch console.
