My uniden Home Patrol 1 trunking scanner won't hear anything but the weather. I am near Hermiston Oregon. I am confused. Is it obsolete? Did they change the system? or is my scanner broken?

the problem may be that the system is not yet in the database.

if you do not want to wait, you may be able to manually add it into the scanner for now.

your scanner appears to support the new APCO P25 system, as well as the correct frequency range.

758.0000787.9950NFM6.25Public Service Band

you may need to manually configure the trunk frequencies into the scanner. check the FCC licence links in the first post to find the map of the nearest transmitter. the trunk frequency is usually the first one listed.

i am unfamiliar with the scanner, hopefully someone else can help more.

be aware you may not hear police traffic, they seem to have all gone encrypted.

looks like the HomePatrol-1 only does P25 Phase 1.

you would need the newer HomePatrol-2 to follow P25 phase 2 calls.

sorry i am new to this, i will try to provide what i can.

i am able to see 2 trunks reliably (769.61875, and 769.29375), but 771.44375 fades in and out for me. i am unsure if i picked up all the site info.

i was able to attempt 3 submissions, one for each trunk i could see. submission #'s: 221493, 221498, 221499

please let me know if i missed anything.

if anyone else is able to provide more information, please do.

thanks.

currently trying to map out control and alt freqs for each site i can see, along with their traffic freqs.

being new this is a little confusing, any help is appreciated.

according to the SDRTrunk details for the trunks, and the FCC license pages, it looks like the primary control freq for the site is the first frequency listed for each group of transmitters or site (looking at the Map tab of the FCC license page, hovering over the transmitter). 2-3 transmitters per site?

what about the alternate control?

the other freqs i assume are for traffic?

whatever i find i will add notes to the related submissions.

thanks.

I'm working out of town right now. when i get back i'll try to help discover more. I do have numerous unit ids already.

appreciate it thanks!

i have set up a Broadcastify Calls for the 169-161 (Pendleton) site... again, mostly for testing, not to be relied on. the old laptop is prone to overheating and locking up.

special thanks to kd7jfv for getting the sites into the database so i could create the Calls key :)

i submitted the known TG's for now, submission #221605.

interestingly you can listen to all calls to a certain TG via the Calls platform.

Curious what traffic is still on the analog trunk system. The 30000 series talk groups should only be for Umatilla County. Morrow should be in the 25000 range.

those unit IDs are used by the sheriffs offices, they are not radio unit id's.

listening to willstuder's feed i hear OSP still. it is on my dashboard :)

@willstuder i hope you are able to get the system added to your feeds, so i can go ahead and kill mine, and free up the SDR.

I was referring to talk group IDs, not radio IDs.

Specifically, TG 30701 - Morrow County Fire/EMS? or MC Fire Tac 1?. Following the convention that was laid out for digital systems in Oregon, Morrow county should be 25000 series.

i am hearing some of the trunked traffic on wills' feed now, interestingly some parts i can also hear on my feed, some i can not.

it is like some of the calls are not going out over both sites even though the TG is used in both locations.

it helps to have both feeds on my dashboard to hear the full conversation sometimes.

curious what trunks you are tuned to @willstuder, thanks for working on it :)

you have my support, hopefully you will keep the feed up.

even witrh just Fire & EMS, and OSP, there is still enough activity to be informative and/or entertaining.

The way most p25 systems work, they will only broadcast talkgroups on sites that have a radio affiliated to "that" site and "that" talkgroup. No need to broadcast a talkgroup if there isn't a radio affiliated with it.

TG 30741 - Boardman FD
TG 30069 - Radio Techs
TG 38158 - OSP Pendleton 1

there may be a new link with Oregon State Radio Project.

38158 is within the range of OSP TG's for that system.

and a few calls where they mention being in Salem.

heard talk of ODOT testing their radios. sdrtrunk shows some affiliations with a 4xxxx TG in the event tab, OSRP uses 4xxxx for ODOT.

ill keep an eye out for the new TGs as they show up on the UMRDD Pendleton site.

they are still working on it, check out the Calls archive if youre interested. Unknown/Unknown Group Calls Live

any help or further info is appreciated.

Finally back and able to start investigating. Been able to verify the name of some of TG with questions. I have my new antenna in a temporary location and can reliably listen to the Heppner and Boardman, Hermiston, and Umatilla sites.

TG 30107 - UCSO Tac 1
TG 30701 - Morrow County Fire Common
TG 30705 - MC EMS Common
TG 30251 - Pendleton FD

New ones i've found

TG 30745 - Boardman FD Tac 1
TG 30271 - Umatilla FD
TG 30221 - UC Fire Tac 4
TG 30225 - UC Fire Tac 5
TG 30141 - Hermiston PD Encrypted

i'll get these submitted shortly
