The last couple of days I have heard morse code tones on the DFPA Dispatch channel. Has anyone heard these and what are they for? Also I have heard an automated RAWS broadcast on BLM Roseburg. Does anyone know the access code for this RAWS or its purpose? Also one more note, I'm pleased to announce that the Umpqua National Forest has finally made the switch to narrowband. They were the last forest in Region 6 to make the switch. Thanks in advance for the help.

The last couple of days I have heard morse code tones on the DFPA Dispatch channel. .

Probably the call sign. Stations are required to announce it (by voice) or send it (by Morse Code) every so often. Here in Portland we hear WPII464 in Morse several times a day on the non-trunked freqs.
If you want to know exactly what they are sending, make a .WAV file (audio file) and send it to me via e-mail.

DFPA which is essentially a contract company for ODF hasn't made the switch to the Douglas County 911 system. I have heard talk that they were, but thats all its been. I will get a new list for the Umpqua since the switch to narrowband. Every thing was switched tx rx and tones. RAWS stands for Remote Automated Weather System. Its like a regular RAWS that NOAA NWS has on various peaks, but these have a transmit function on them. You can key up the frequency for the RAWS and enter a 4 digit code and it will read the weather over the radio. We see these alot on large fires. I heard it a couple of days ago on the BLM ROD dispatch channel I was curious if anyone knows the freq. and code to access it.
