• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Greetings all,

I apologize in advance if this has already been a discussed topic, but I tried to search for this subject and was UTL any other forums.

Anyways, I have a Moto CDM 1250 with the proper 16 pin connecting wire between the CDM and a Rugged Radio RRP 696 intercom. Intercom has PTT buttons that connect straight to the intercom control head and not the headset itself.

ISSUE: When I try to transmit through the intercom headset and through the CDM on a repeated channel, there’s no transmission. The repeater is a home brew CDM repeater. I can see the rx radio receive the transmission, but the LED on the tx radio does not light up. There isn’t even audio on a separate radio.

Continuing, when I switch over to a direct/simplex channel...like MURS, I can transmit through the headset and hear the voice audio on a separate radio. And no the MURS is not the repeater frequency.

When I transmit with the normal hand mic I can transmit through the repeater just fine.

My thought is that I’m missing something in the CPS and I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Call rugged and ask them whether PTT needs to be active high or active low to work with the intercom.

when you talk about active high or low, are you talking about the pin assignment and has a pull down menu to the right that says high or low?

Yeah. I don't have CPS here on this computer, but that is ringing a bell. I know you can set up the rear pins to transmit without a PL/DPL tone for some uses. Sounds like a programming error.
