If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am working through a problem with some Kenwood 7160s fimware ver 140
the issue does not seem to happen on version 130
I have a 11 channel set and have programmed all radios the same so far.
The issue I have seems to be from lower pl tones 67 and 77.
The Moto 6350 set at pl 67 with no tone set on receive of 7160, 7160 opens
and works fine.
Transmitting with pl tone 67 from 7160 to Moto 6350 with tones set works
But when transmitting from 6350 to 7160 with 67 set in rec of 7160 light indicating busy channel comes on
but radio doesn't open.
same occurs on channel 173.225 with Pl of 77.
next highest pl is 94.8 (ZA) and it works.
Called Kenwood support and spoke with tech who suggested I look at Qt/Dqt balance in test mode.
My v130 radio works so I copied the settings in there to setup on v140 still no go.
My software is KPG99 ver 1.01
I am wondering if the newer version radio V140 has to have something done or do I have to send them all in.
Currently I just wrote program and left that pl set to none in rec on those channels to get by so I can get radios in units and gone. I support them so after a solution I can always reprogram.

Any help greatly appreciated

7160 issue figured out

Must be bad luck
After this issue went and checked several other 7160s and found this issue to just be with these few radios
they are used, new to me so will have to be sent sent in aligned.
