• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello all, hope everyone is doing well. Anyways, Need someone to re-fresh my memory about MOto radios that are MDC capable in the 900mhz spectrum. Planning on using them on simplex, 902-927 Mhz range. Base station at home and few portables. I would like the mts2000, mcs2000, or mtx's. Thanks guys....

I use an XTS2500. It is MDC capable. I don't know how much range you're expecting though... from what I've heard you won't get much!

Nice, I was looking at one now and pretty good price for the whole bundle. Do you have mobile as well? Are you on simplex? By the way, forgot to mention, will be on conventional only.

The MTX radios are good as long as you have a way to program them. The MTX9250 is pretty much an HT1250 in a 900mhz form but it uses a different software. Cheap and easy to find, unlike the XTS2500

I do not have a 900 mobile, but my friend does. From what I have been told, simplex on 900 ham is really underwhelming. We use our radios on a p25 conventional multicast repeater network, and for that purpose, they work wonderfully. They can be a bit temperamental for programming if you're using an aftermarket cable, and they do require hex edited software. As for the radio itself, idk what others are talking about but 900 Astro25 HT's are very cheap and easy to find. I have seen some on FB marketplace pop up for prices so low I feel as though they're paying people to take the radio!

A friend of mine dumped 6 or 8 XTS2500 mod IIIs in the $80 range on Ebay. I only bought one and should have got more. I recently got another 900MHz XTS2500 mod III for $177 and that's the upper limit in price for me.
