• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

After receiving Motorola APX radios for our FD from our local communications department we set up favorites in the dynamic zone which was left blank by the original programmer. This was done by selecting ZnPr and going through the obvious following steps. Now when trying to edit any channel in the favorites zone, ZnPr is not displayed on any of soft keys even after scrolling over. Is there another way to enter programming on a dynamic zone or are we stuck with the channels currently in this zone?

was the programming changed since getting the radios? If the communications department changed the programming they might have made that zone as a, home zone where all of the channels you may use are in there. My suggestion is to either ask the radio techs about it or check the programming in your radios. whichever sides programs your radios

Not much help but a good suggestion for programming. The radios should follow a basic programming pattern. IE convention/trunked personalities in sequence for zone 1. Then the personalities for zone 2 etc. This makes navigating the zone configuration much easier. The programmer can then position everything easily to suit the end users requirements.

znpr should still be there. There is a good chance that znpr was not added to both the conventional and trunked menu items during programming. Try finding znpr on each type of channel that you added to the dynamic zone, hopefully you have some of each in there, trunked and non trunked. Feel free to pm me as some of the responses don’t seem to understand what the dynamic bank is for, user defined zone.

What op is talking about has zero to do with cps'ing his own radio. Radios we install into super trooper's tauruses need to have favorites set up, too. It is part of the tech/trooper initiation into their new rig. It is fully on the end user to change it as they see fit. Since I am not the end user or a state tech, I dont know the details.

Reach out to your radio dude to get the info you need.
