• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello, my APX radio seems to have monitor stuck on. It will not scan as long as the mic is hooked up to the control head but as soon as I remove the mic it will start scanning and the monitor icon will go away. I have monitor as one of the menu items and when I push it I can turn monitor on and off but the icon remains and it will not scan once again. It will scan just fine with the mic unhooked.

Odd, the behavior you describe sounds like the exact opposite of when HUB Defeats PL and HUB Suspends Scan are enabled. Both of those features are supposed to kick in when the mic is off the hook (i.e. ungrounded), not when it's on the hook.

Basically, you take the mic off the hook with those two features enabled, and it will a) stop scanning and b) put the radio into CSQ mode (monitor icon will appear on the control head).

I'm not sure why your radio is behaving the opposite. See if those two options are enabled (Conventional Wide and Scan Wide) and try disabling them if so.

One other thing to check, on the Radio Ergonomics Wide page, make sure that Default Control Head HUB State is set to On Hook.

I will hook it up to the CPS again and take a look at the settings you think could be causing the problem. Hopefully by messing with them some I will be able to get it to scan with the mic hooked up.

I believe so. I had my local Motorola dealer install the radio and put a magnetic mic clip on it. They ran a wire from it to behind the bash which I think must be the ground wire.

Have the Motorola dealer who installed the radio figure it out for you, they installed it, that should be covered by their warranty.

Update: I brought my truck back to the Motorola dealer that did the install and they found they forgot to hook up the ground wire. Problem is solved now and it has been working great.
