• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I don't have an answer on the hex edit, but 6.12.05_AA was the last wideband version.

I'm not sure on HEX editing; however there are two variants of CDM1250 for UHF. One covers 403-470 MHz (covers HAM band) and the other covers 450-512 MHz (would probably needed edited.)

If you can find a 403-470 split model, you would be good to go!

6.12.05 is the last wideband version... Just stick with that. You want an R split mobile to cover 403-470 mhz frequencies. It is possible to use a program called chirp to modify a 450-520 radio to go down to 440mhz.

One issue with stretching a 450-520 radio down to 70cm is that if you go too far, VCO can unlock. Also, the filtering might need adjustment if you get too far down into 70cm, and that requires a service monitor.

Much easier to just get the 403-470 model, even if it costs a bit more.

well the ONLY reason I would want to go form a HIGH split is I an use the radio for both Ham and asa scanner for SOME police and fire
So hex editing from either it's 450 or from 470 down to 440 would be a better choice ! if it's possible
I really dont think going from 470 to 440 wil work the VCO just wont lock to far of a spread ! any thoughts

OK thanks well that's the version that I will use and Hexedit then OR just getting a 403 to 470 radio as a STABLE radio to use in the HAM band
with out Chinese SPURS (harmonics) in the transmit PURITY is the ONLY way to transmit !!! RIGHT
