Anyone have any information on the band capabilities of a Motorola VHF-Hi CDM1250? Tried to get the radio shop to program 2 meter freq into it today. It took the RX side of 147.06 but the XT (the input of the local ham repeater) of 147.660 wouldn't go. It kept giving him an error. He was having problems with his rib box, but, I don't understand why it would take the RX side. I had him go ahead and put it in simplex for now. He's going to get his equipment checked & try again next time her's here....Steve/KB8FAR

Umm......

since the radio's bandsplit is 136-174 or something close to that, there's no reason why the radio shouldn't accep tthat freqeuncy because it is clearly within the band... odds are it's probably something else that caused it.... how fluent is he with programming the HT/CDM radios?

typically the program itself will tell you if you have tried to program a frequency it will not accept , i personally have run into problems with the rib and ribless cables . usually i have spares in my laptop case and can easily switch out without much fuss . if the radio codeplug or the cable has an error it will display it when you try to read or write the radio , yet another reason you save your work as you go . typically i save the old program just incase , and make sure his version of software he is using is the same or greater than what is in the radio , the older software was not windows xp compatible

Rib Box

I think he WAS having rib box problems. He could read our 1225 but couldn't write to it either that day....Steve
