Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello. Our dispatch center has evolved to the centracom elite dispatch consoles. The only problem we have had so far is with the VHF fire and ems paging. On our old system, when we did multiple pages, or tones, it would keep the channel open between pages. Now with our new system, it cuts the channel, just for a half second or so between tones, so when we do multiple tones, ie...weather alerts, pager tests, etc...the agencies that have stored voice pagers that are at the beginning of the sequence only hear about 2 tones then it cuts off, where, with the old system, when the channel stayed open between pages, they could hear the whole announcement. I know this is confusing as hell, and I wish I could explain it better, but we now have to do pager tests and announcements 2 departments at a time because of this issue. Is there a fix to this, and if so, how easy is it to fix. Thanks in advance.

What type of pagers are carried by the fire & ems crews?

I assume they are programmable so they should be able to
be set up to delay before they auto reset or the delay can
be increased to acheave the proper effect.

They carry everything from Minitor 2's to minitor 5's. We do have surrounding counties that do multiple pages and the channel stays open. I was wondering if it is a programming issue with our system. The fire departments checked with a local motorola dealer and they are wanting to charge $80 an hour to reprogram the pagers. Thanks.

Not sure if the centracom elite can be changed per your requirements but I think the
Minitor 3,4 & 5's can be. The Minitor 2 pagers are not programmable. Time for
someone in one of those orgs to think about buying your own programing software
and cradles for these pagers as it would pay for itself in a situation like this.

Yeah, that was my suggestion was to find someone local who can program the pagers, or go together and buy their own.

Inside of the circuit....
Have the administrator of your Centracom Gold Elite console system go into the Console Database Manager (CDM) program and go into the timing parameters for each operator position that can tone your department and increase the "Paging Extended Talk Time" field from what it currently is. It can be extended up to 7 seconds and this should alleviate your issue as it will keep the console keyed for the length of time entered into that field after the paging tone is completed.
