• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm going to apologize in advance if this doesn't make any sense but here we go. I'm running a cm300 in my truck for fire and my 2 meter stuff. I've got a cross bander set up at the house to hit a distant 440 repeater from the mobile but i hate to leave it on all the time in case some how it gets keyed up and runs wild. the x-bander has a remote control dtmf that i can send to switch the cross band on and off but its a "d99" for on and a "d01" for off. in the cps i can't type in the "d" part of the dtmf code. Is there another number that moto uses to represent the "d" command or am I just SOL on this one?

Thunderknight is correct, you need a special mic that has the A B C D column.

If you'll do some googling, you will find info on mics with the 4th column. One of them is the CES 810. It doesn't have the fourth column of buttons but it does have a "mode" button which will allow you to access the 4th column tones and send the "d" code. I know it's not quite as elegant as programming a one touch button on the CM300 that will send the whole code sequence, but it does get the job done. Here's the manual on the mic: www.repeater-builder.com/ces/pdfs/ces-810-microphone.pdf I happen to have one of them here. I have never used it except for testing, and it works just fine.

I am certain that there are other solutions out there, especially on the amateur radio related boards and sites like repeater-builder.com.

NOTE: The Motorola AARMN4026 DTMF mic has a row of A B C buttons. These are NOT the fourth column tones that you need. They are remote programmable buttons just like the ones on the front panel of your CM300. And the AARMN4026 won't work on your CM300.

Some of the Motorola DTMF microphones could be modified to send the 4th column tone because they used an off the shelf tone generator chip. But beyond that, Motorola doesn't seem to recognize that DTMF signalling can also use 1633 hz.

Which is essentially what I said in the post #7 referenced above.

well dang it. I guess i'll look at putting a dtmf mic on there and modifying it. I was hoping there would be a way to program it in the cps. That would've been pretty slick! Thanks for the replies.
