Motorola GP 68 or VX-170?

I am planning on purchasing either a Motorola GP68 VHF 136-174 MHz Professional Ham Radio or a VX 170 radio. Which radio is better. The price for a slightly used GP 68 is around $75 and a brand new VX-170 is about $140.

Is this for ham only? If so, my gut instinct is the new VX-170, as it's on par with similar public safety radios. If it's for public safety, then neither one since they are not type accepted.

If the 170 is truly 700mw audio, then it should be really loud.

Thanks for the feed back. After carefull details I decided to purchase a mobile dual bander FT-7800 for my QTH and perhaps not miss the cross repeater function available on FT-8800 and FT 8900.
