• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have recently aquired an Motorola Radius CP200 16 Channel UHF Hand Held. After doing a little bit of research I found the frequency range of this unit appears to be from ~438Mhz - 470Mhz, I was hoping to use it in the -476Mhz in the UHF Cb radio frequency range...

Given it's only a few Mhz away, am I still able to program in the relevent frequencies?
My good mate thinks that the frequency range is based on Opitum performance, not actual capilities.... of the chystal...

Can someone help me please?

Cheers!

You cannot hack the bandsplits of the CP200, as far as I know, all of that information is locked into the firmware of the actual radio itself, and not the software. I do not believe that the CPS Software will let you write a codeplug with out-of-band values.

As was stated; there are no crystals in a CP200. If it is even possible, changing the band limits would have to be done by modifying a specific value in the CPS via a hexedittor.

Good news: Many Motorola portables which have stated band limits of 470 will actually allow you to program up to 477 so I would give that a try first.

Hope that helps,

Mike

Ht1250

I have just purchased sevral HT1250's because I heard they where supposed to be really good radio's, however they do not transmit/recive near as good as our old radios (4-channel TK-260) I have tried sevral antennas, they are transmitting on Hi power, accordding to the LCD screen. All these radios are having the identical problems of not being able to hit our repeater and do not pick-up dispatch most of the time........SO I am pretty sure that its in my programing, I have the Transmit and recive frequencys entered correctly.....but I am very new to all this other stuff.....Can tell me what all this other stuff is

Try turning the squelch down in the software (this should help the recieve). I don't know how to do it, but I'm sure someone on here does.

Motorola

I have been told by someone that its because I am not using the motorola software to prgram these radios, Is this a possible sanario? If so where can I find this motorola 6.0 (???) service program to be able to fix these radios. The motorola shop here wants 50$ for each radio for custom programing or 75$ for the 1st one and 20$ to clone each additional one, and I think thats a little radical. They gave me a free programing cable for the radios to attach to a PC, I was kinda hoping it had the self installing programing (plug and play) but another freind gave me some programing program and said that It should work, WORKS but NOT very WELL

If you have entered the correct frequncies for your system but you aren't using Motorola software then what are you using to program these things??
