• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Inside of the circuit....
Once you have agreed to the software license agreement online, the site will open your account up to being able to purchase software part numbers. If you don't know the software part number (RVNxxxx), call the number that tbnmaster mentioned and get to parts ID and ask them for it.

In order to protect their dealers, Motorola will not sell you the waris CPS if there is a Motorola dealer within approx 75 miles.

Ya gotta use a friends or relatives address if they live no where close to any motorola shops. Motorola looks at your address, and if there are no dealers close to you, then they may sell you the CPS.

Your probably gonna have a better time finding it underground, then paying Motorola for it tho........

Good luck

You can apply online for the restricted Software License Agreement (SLA). You check the HVN9025 box on the application. Be sure to fill out the application completely and correctly, listing the serial numbers of your BRAND NEW radios you purchased from a legit /\/\ dealer and you must also list the dealer info. If approved, you'll be able to make your purchase through MOL.

Good luck.

NOT TRUE!

I had NO TROUBLE getting approved to purchase my legally licensed copy of the Waris CPS so I can program my HT1250 portables, which I bought BRAND NEW from a legit /\/\ dealer. I'm not an authorized dealer or a public safety agency however I still met the criteria for approval. I also self-maintain my radios. I did this back in 2004 using the old paper application, probably before the online application became available through MOL. I had to list the radio serial #'s on the application and I included a copy of the dealer's invoice which also had the serial numbers.

If you take the time to fill out the application completely and correctly, you should have no problem getting approved for the Waris CPS.

Good luck.

Interesting...'cause I've got at least 2 dealers within about 25 miles of me and I had no trouble getting approved back in 2004.

Not true. Moto sold little 'ol me software for the GM300 and the HT750/CDM1250. No issues.
Called 'em up, gave them a P.O. number, they called back, asked me where to ship it.
Believe I talked to a young lady named Heather.
When I recieved it, they got paid.
I'm not a dealer, I'm not a public safety agency.

If your not listed with them as a company How did you use a P.O.#? Did you just make up a number? Thanks Gary
(Also trying to get this software.)

I'd be interested to know where to get a hold of Spectra/Maxtrac RSS as well. My roommate and i are both eyeing the Spectras for our volunteer EMS and amateur use as well.

Is the CPS for the XTS series as difficult to acquire as the PRO/HT/CDM series is being reported to be? Something in me is making me want an XTS model.

I belive the XTS CPS is one of the hardest CPS programs to obtain because of securtiy reason. I am not sure how true this is, but this is what I've heard.

Thanks

CPS for the ASTRO series and the ASTRO25 series is very easy to get. Fill out the paperwork, mail or fax it back and wait.

Once approved you can download it through Motorola online.

I've got subscriptions to both as well as the Quantar repeater and had no problems.
