Do you need Active pay service to use Direct Talk (not direct connect), i am thinking of using these on a job site where i work, i know you need the SIM Card, but do you need to have an active service to use it?

hey i own an i355, i have acessed the DT feature when my account was suspended. i think all you need is the sim card active account or not. The DT uses the 900Mhz ISM band rather than 800Mhz system frequencies in a talk around mode.
