Motorola is using their lobbyist right now to try to get the State of Arkansas to give them the funds to build five new AWIN sites in Northwest Arkansas, normally the state does not pay to build AWIN sites, these are usually funded by the agency. Motorola has been asking all the government customers up in NWA for support and is working with Smith Two-Way of Fayetteville. Many officials are uneasy about who would actually have ownership of the sites and what agencies would actually be going on AWIN. We will have to see if Governor Hutchinson will give Motorola the funds to build these sites.

Lord knows AWIN does need sites in that area... As well as fill in sites statewide.

Are there any references to other online articles? I'd love to read more about this . . . Thanks

North Garland county up into Perry & Yell has horrible AWIN coverage. West end of Hot Springs Village drops out inside the gate until you get over into Saline county, unless you get on hilltops. Not as much an issue for us since HSV Police, Fire, Lifenet & GCSO use VHF as a primary.

The Mountain Pine site is only 10 miles away but terrain blocks a lot of it in west HSV. The Magnet site fills in the east side pretty good.

Are you speaking of actual AWIN radios or scanner? I had excellent reception in Royal, Hot Springs, and near the Yell County line on an PRO-96, and the ASP Troopers I talked to had good coverage except at the Perry line.
