Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all,

I'm wanting to get a ASTRO Spectra Consolette - L99X, change the radio to a XLT5000 and add 3 or 4 MC3000 remotes (one in the shed, one at the desk etc)

As I understand it, the Astro Spectra can be directly swapped with a XLT5000.

I am planning to use a L3208A Digital Junction Box.

The XLT5000 needs to have a 'W' head fitted and the Consolette too needs to be fitted with a Digital Board, (if it has a RJ45 port this means it not got a digital board??)

I have a couple of questions if I may:

Is the XLT5000 in a Spectra Consolette compatible with a L3208A and in turn 3 or 4 MC3000 remote controls?

Is there a way to see if the XLT5000 has the right head fitted from a photo:

And if this Consolette has a digital board installed?

Many thanks for your time.

Cheers and 73

Would that be similar to the XTL5000? Sorry, I don’t have the answer to your inquiry although I own an XTL5000, 3000, and a 2500.

Is the “XLT” a difference series or possibly a model designed for a different country other than the USA?

I have used Astro Spectra consolettes and swapped the Astro Spectra for an XTL5000 and have connected an L3208A for MC3000s or 1337 junction boxes for RCH3000s without issue. Just use the correct DB25 on the back of the consolette, use a straight through DB25 cable and use mirrored CAT5 cables and you'll be set.
