Motorola Minitor 3 and 4's

I carry a Motorola Minitor 3 and a Minitor 4 Fire Pager, My Question is
What Kind of an Antenna is in These things?, and What kind of Range
Do These Fire Minitors get within Miles?, This Minitor 3 is set up For
Ocean City Fire Company, Would The Pager still Pick up Calls if I was 30-40 or more Miles Away from Ocean City.

You should drive 30-40 miles from O.C and find out. I can routinely pick up 158.895 with a regular ducky antenna in North Dorchester and that is 60 miles away from O.C. I would venture to say you could since Salisbury is about 30 miles from O.C.

I would bet you can probably pick up 158.895 in Salisbury with no problems at all... We are still on Low Band for a Short while in the rest of the county, and I pick it up better on a pager in Salisbury than I do with a scanner...though I havent carried a pager in over 2 years.

In regards to the antenna...this is a guess. One of the pins (or possibly 2 for all I know) acts as a plug in antenna. Its the same on 1,2,3,4 minitors. When you plug the pager into a amplified charger one of the pins connects to a external jack on the charger, hence better range. My assumption would be that same pin may also be your antenna when it's on your side. If not the other assumption is its obviously got some other kind of internal antenna.

But as stated before, you should have no problems picking up with your pager in Salisbury, cause I hear 158.895 CRYSTAL CLEAR in Salisbury on a scanner.....

I have a Minitor 2 with Montgomery County programed in it. I just moved to Selbyville. Do you know anyone who would/could program Ocean City or Sussex into it? Maybe OC pager tones and a station near me.

Thanks For The Information, Um The Charger You Get With The Minitors
Should Amplify The Range, Correct Me If Im Wrong.. So That Case I
can propably get a Cigarette Adapter for The Charger

I can pick up OC in my car with a glass mount as far as 13 and 404. With my Minitor 2 I could recieve Montgomery County more than 30 miles away. I really dont think you have to worry about reception betweeen OC and Salisbury. I am not familar with Worcester County yet but would assume they have repeater towers.

Minitor Antennas

From my understanding, the Minitors have an internal antenna. The early Minitor I and Pageboy II pagers used the metal case as the antenna. In the Minitor I, the metal escutcheon and the reset bar served at the antenna.
