If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,

The battery on my minitor V won't come off. Now I have the latch open so it is supposed to just slide down. The battery seems to be stuck. I called the moto rep this pager came from and they told me that moto isn't shipping anymore minitor v's because they are trying to work this battery problem out.

In the mean time anyone have any ideas how I can get this battery off the pager or anyway to maybe file down the pager so the battery slips off easily?

Thanks,

lol, this is a common issue. the easiest way is to pop the belt clip off. then you just gotta fight with it to get the battery to start sliding.

Try silicone grease where the battery meets in the rear.

A month or so ago I ordered 20+ Minitor V's for a customer. They all had very tight batteries. Once you pound them on, they were a bear to get off. I boggered a brand new case/battery prying it off. I tried sanding/filing and a little silicon spray, but that helped very little. Finally opened a ticket with Motorola and sent the whole lot back. Took a couple of weeks but it returned with batteries that would slide on and off acceptably. Don't know what the deal is. Maybe the tolerances are too tight and the Battery mfg is a little sloppy. Keep making noise and maybe they will get around to youj...

keep in mind Moto does NOT make these pagers. they are made by Unication and Moto simply puts their labels on them. same thing for the Advisor II, it is the Unication Alpha Gold/Elegant pager. funny thing is the Unication has a longer warrnaty and it 20.00 cheaper wholesale than the Moto labeled alphas!

Not sure if you have this resolved - the issue was that the molds were wearing down or something like that and they were not being created properly...thus the inability to get the battery out. the easiest fix is to go to the dealer, and yes, they have continued to ship the pagers out now.

A small to medium sized flathead screwdriver and a "strong and steady" grip. There are around eight "slots" just below the belt clip designed for finger traction, the right screwdriver will fit into one of the slots, directly below the clip, a strong "pry" upon the bottom of the clip is usually all it takes to move.

When the batteries are exposed to heat they expand a bit. Try cooling your pager down, not too cold, no less than 35F id say, it will help if anything.
