Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey guys,
I have 8 Motorola MT2000's. I have already programmed some of them narrowband, went to clone 4 of them and the message came up that it was not 2.5 khz compatible and needed a firmware upgrade. I took it to my local dealer and he said the firmware didn't need to be upgraded for this. Is this true? I looked it up and supposedly the mt2000's are narrowband compatible, are off of them or just some?

Im having the same issue with the ht1250.

Thanks

The MT2000's will do 12.5 ,BUT unless it is a real new one it will not do those lovely splinter frequencies. The MT2000 cannot have a firmware upgrade only the MTS2000's. It is unfortunate because the MT2000 and JT1000 are great radios.

The HT1250's will take all kinds of crazy splits ,so it will do 12.5 without a doubt. What is the firmware versions of the HT1250's ? If you have some of the oldest firmware R1.00.xx-R3.xx.xx some are good some are bad, when doing firmware upgrades some will die. We had a Kenwood dealer in this area telling the local deptments that no Motorola HT1250 would narrow band ,that is not true at all .

MT2000's made after April 1998 should have a firmware of 2.11 or later (2.13 is the latest for the masked ROM Jedis) will do ALL narrowband synthesizer steps including splinters. Earlier ones will do 2.5KHz deviation but not splinter channels.

Since the MT2000 lack flashport controllers, only option is to replace the radio.

Jedi series radios do not like to be cloned.

Try reading the radio FIRST.
Change that codeplug;s channels and write that back into the SAME radio...

My SERIAL number is 355AXY0415 Z W3 MODEL- H01KDD9AA4AN. Model number is the same on all radios I believe.

X=1997, Y is Nov-Dec
probably not.
you can check your firmware version by pressing the side button directly above the PTT within 10 seconds of turning the radio on. you will then see the model, serial and F/W version (usually expressed as Rx.xx) flash in sequence.

If it's 2.11 or higher it will be fully narrowband capable.

Isn't it 12.5 khz?

Narrow band channels have a nominal center frequency spacing of 12.5 KHz.

Narrow band channels have a maximum deviation of +/- 2.5 KHz.

Narrow band channels actually occupy approximately 11 KHz of spectrum.
