• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello everyone. Quick question. Im looking to purchase a MTS2000 to replace the HT750 my fire dept has provided me with. I guess I just like the frame and platform of the Jedi series alot better. MY question pertains to paging. Our pagers use both a 2 tone and an "all call" 1 tone page type. (1 tone for medic calls, and both fire fire/car accidents). Which model of MTS should I look for to be able to have it page? Thanks for the help and all the other useful info I have founf in these forums.

Its more of a question as to whether the radio is optioned with the QCII feature.

You will need to be looking for a used MTS2000 with the correct flash code.

I can not tell you what that flash code that will be due to it possibly being many
different flash codes having the QCII feature.

You will have to search for used MTS2000 radios and ask the seller if this feature
is in the radio or if he does not know you will need him to supply you the flash code
and there is a flash code decoder here on the RR web site.

You can check with radio shops near you if they have to ability to flash the radio. I had one of my MTS2000's flashed for QCII for around $110.

The MTS2000 radios were flashed with features that the original customers specified. Unlike the earlier MT 2000 that came with QC II decode and MDC already programmed, just waiting to be set up in the RSS. If your department goes to MDC radio ID, that's another flash you have to buy to upgrade the MTS 2000.
