• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Does anyone happen to know if the Motorola PMMN4097 Bluetooth Gateway Mic will work with an XTL2500 dash mount? It's officially marketed for the APX series, but I've seen a few sellers advertise XTL compatibility as well. Hoping since both product lines utilize the same GCAI connector that I am in luck, but thought it prudent to ask before shelling out ~ $500 for the gateway / RSM combo. Thanks in advance!

Absolutely. I am using on on an XTL5000 dash mount in my house and paired with my bluetooth RSM, pretty much "whole house" coverage.
Awesome! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. That is actually EXACTLY what I am looking to do. I have an APX8000, but an HT doesn't play well with the steep pitched metal roof I have when I'm upstairs, so I am going this route to extend my XTL2500's coverage throughout my home.

This is how I use my VHF ham repeater from home. Portable coverage is non-existent. No problem for my XTL5K connected to a Diamond X-300 40 feet above ground. The mission critical RSM is class 3 bluetooth and works well in this application.

XTL radios require firmware newer than R12 for the Gateway Mic to work.
The Gateway mic doesn't work on the APX Vehicular Adapter, either.

This is disappointing news... My XTL2500 firmware is at R09, and I am well aware it's NLA from Motorola :( Oh well, it may finally be time to upgrade to an APX4500 or possibly a 6500 for my home setup. I appreciate the replies!
