• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Have a PR400 32 channel with display Radio and software to program. You can program up to 16 scan lists. I cannot figure out how to toggle between scan lists. Manual shows how to edit, add or delete within a scan list but doesn't show how to toggle to each individual list. Thanks

You cant change scan lists from the front of the radio. The scan list is selected in the software in the channel personality. If you want to change the scan list assigned to the channel, you need to reprogram the radio.

You can change the contents of the scan list but not the scan list itself.
Most people dont need to (or want to) change the scan list on the fly.

These radios were designed for commercial uses. Some PS agencies use them in the analog days. They were not designed for everyone to be able to change things on the fly. They were designed to be programmed by a tech and then end users use them as they were programmed. There are very very few to no reason for the end user to need to change lists like a ham

Assign scan lists to personalities intuitively so that you know what you are scanning based on the channel you start scanning from. For example, if I start scanning from one of my favorite channels, I scan a list of other channels that I use very frequently and never want to miss a call on. Or, if I start scanning from a channel that's a repeater in the San Gabriel Valley region, then I know I am scanning other repeaters in the SGV, and so on. Get the most out of your radio by thoroughly planning your codeplug and crafting it around how you intend to use it.

Maybe I am wrong here but can't you toggle 'add/delete' to a scan list ??
I need to read up the user manual as I am getting a pair of these soon.

Yes you can go in to menu on the radio and add and delete channels from the scan list.

You can “nuisance” delete a scanned channel if there is a button programmed to do so.

Alternatively, you can add/delete channels from a scan list if set to do so in CPS and there’s a button programmed to access menu items.

1627392661608.pngUnder each personality, make a selection for which scan list you want that personality tied to. When the radio is turned to that channel, it will scan that list.
1627392750322.pngThis is under "Programmable Menu" that needs to be checked in order to change your scan list.
1627392799779.pngYou also can configure nuissance delete under "Buttons" typically I set nuissance delete to be a long press of whichever button turns scan on and off.

OK I just unearthed the manual and in the menu functions you can do near anything with scan lists.
Buttons can even be programmed to manipulate scan lists. Too many things to list here,
I suggest getting your hands on the user manual.

(this is quite a bit more radio than I first thought.)
