• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity.     If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Motorola Saber: Replacement Knobs NEEDED!

Does anyone have a source for NEW replacement knobs for the Motorola Saber series? We are looking to get BOTH the Channel and Volume replacement knobs that are NEW and NOT old stock... we are tired of pulling them off of other radios to have them still brittle and break and crack, so we need a source for NEW knobs, prefer to have the round/flat top knobs.

If anyone has a good source, please let me know. Our agency needs a bulk order of these. Any info helps, Thanks!

IIRC, NOS is all you're going to get. Knobs have been discontinued for a while now.

Yep, its NOS or NONE... They have been out of production for some time now, years, and went NLA on MOL at least a year or more ago i believe, it know its been a good long while since i have been able to get any new.

Watch eBay, some NOS in the bags show up there from time to time. Otherwise you could call dealers around your area and hope one of them has some dusty parts bin somewhere with them. Otherwise your stuck...

I recall reading something a while back where guys were modifying a knob for a different model to fit the Saber series but i can't find that reference anymore. If you want something better your going to have to come up with it yourself sadly. Thank Moto for discontinuing... However with all the narrowbanding you should be able to pick up Saber's for cheap now, being wideband and obsolete as they are.
