I have a Motorola Spectra VHF conventional that I have a question about.
When i read the radio and go to radio wide configuration, i notice that it says ZONE OPERATION.....Not Avail.
Does this mean that this radio does not have zones? If so is there anyway around this? Or am I just not understanding how Motorola does their zones.
Thanks for the help.
Most of the Spectra radios that you will find do not have zone operation. When I stared playing with the T83GXA series radios, I found that my travels could indeed use the zone feature that these radios could offer. I managed to fine a zone codeplug on the super codeplug site and down loaded it. c
Now before you start playing with zones, you had better plan out your zones and channels before getting into the programming. I made an Excel sheet with the modes and broke it down into the zones I wanted. If you get the codeplug from anyone, try reading it before doing much. Then you may be able to go in and re label the zone names and change the channels.
The zone operation works best with a 9000 series head them many call an A9. They work well and you only need to program the top left row of buttons for things like 'SCAN", "DIR" and maybe "MULTI PL".
If this is what your looking for, let us know what model radio you have and head your trying to use. You can also find more info over on the repeater builder site and the batlabs chat group.
