• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Would this radio track and monitor a trunking /Cap plus / Connect system? Is it FPP? Plan purchasing one as a DMR capable radio.
73,

Thanks

Capacity Plus, maybe depending on features. Connect Plus, no. FPP, also no.

If all your trying to do is monitor it's not worth your time trying to use a TRBO radio.

Why not Con+ and FPP?

There are option boards that can be purchased for these

Con+ requires a system key like P25. Of course, you could just program in the voice channels but if the system is busy or has lots of frequencies the radio will miss a lot of calls.

Very true, I just assumed that this would be more than the OP was interested in doing.

Radio SN and/or Hex ID from portable/mobile eeprom is needed to authenticate. For scanning, you can add a TGID and the system channels and scan like a non-priority scan. Slow, but the radio will ignore the control channel when scanning, usually. Some FW versions it does not.

FPP is quite useless on these radios. It’s expensive to add, & the FPP channels don’t go to memory. Think of it as a single VFO channel.

FPP flashed onto the GOB allows for simple FPP of conventional analogue and conventional digital channels.

For Analogue:

Rx Frequency
Tx Frequency
Rx PL/DPL
Tx PL/DPL

For Digital:

Rx Frequency
Rx Frequency
Colour Code
Private OR Group call.

You must create a zone with one digital and one analogue channel, with the option board box checked. To access FPP you have to go to that zone and activate FPP Once in FPP mode, you have 16 FPP channels, but can not access any other channels until you exit FPP.

If you don’t have the GOB, you’d have to get it. Plus the FPP program is more expensive than the going rate for a 6550. OTOH, a 7550 with Asian FW, & CPS gives you full featured FPP.
