We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

Motorola Trunked System Wild Cards

I want to program Motorola Trunked systems with wild cards to find other talk groups for the following trunked systems:

Motorola APCO 25
Motorola Smart Net Type 2

Thanks

What is you system? On my 996T, you select ID Scan which will only follow talkgroup IDs I have pre defined or ID Search which will find any talkgroup IDs being used.

Just use ID Search to find unknown ID's. If your Uniden TrunkTracker uses alphatags and the radio stops on the talkgroup not tagged, then you can press enter to save it to memory and go back later and identify it by programming it with an alpha tag.

What I would like to be able to do is this...Instead of having to program a seperate alpha tag for each ID, program a wildcard, say 48* and have all ID's that start with 48 be assigned the tag POLICE...kinda like i0 for I-Calls. This way ID 48000, 48016, 48017, etc. would all be assigned POLICE tag.

You can do that for EDACS systems using the AFS wildcards, but not Motorola talkgroups.
