I created a new system for Cook County, IL Sheriff as a Motorola Trunking.
I entered all control frequencies and several 5 digit TGIDs. In ID Search mode only
4 digit TGIDs are heard, 5 digit TGIDs are all static. The Manual, page 66, is vague about
Motorola Type II systems. I can find no explanation anywhere. Any ideas?

That system has a combination of analog and digital channels. Your BC246T won't pick up the digital channels (they'll sound like "all static"). It looks like the digital channels are all encrypted, too. See here: http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=585

Channels with mode "A" are analog. "E" is encrypted. "D" is digital.

Hi Harley,

That system (http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=585) has the 5-digit talkgroups (Cook County Sheriff Talkgroups) listed as "E" in the Mode column (meaning they are encrypted, which no scanner can decode).

Thanks, I didn't know what the 'Mode' column meant.
