This question is in regard to the Westchester County Public Safety Trunking System, Various, New York - Scanner Frequencies UHF Trunked System, but it is generic to other Motorola UHF Systems, so I am posting it here in hopes that it will get a better response.

I understand that when all the frequencies are close together (as in the North Zone) only one Base/Step/Offset table is needed.

With additional frequencies being licensed for the South Zone, it is my understanding that one or more additional tables will be needed. As an FYI, FCC licenses for the South Zone are WQBR539, WQHV384, KVN918.The frequencies from these licenses are 470.2000, 476.0750, 476.1125, 476.2125, 476.2375, 478.3125. Currently the 476.xxxx freq's are operating in the South Zone, and are received fine with the table listed.

With the addition of 470.2000 & 478.3125 will the current table have to be modified, and will there need to be one or two new tables?

First, I think this question could have been asked in the general scanning forum and you would have gotten a quicker response and since it deals almost entirely with how to program your scanner, it would have been more appropriate than asking here in the Commercial/Professional Radio forums.

That said, the two tables established for the system at the link you provided will cover the two frequencies that you are asking about. Based on the tables provided in the DB, 470.2000 would be LCN 0x18c (396 dec) and 478.3125 would be LCN 0x2c1 (705 dec). Indeed it would appear that any frequency between 470.0000 and 471.7375 or 476.0000 and 478.9875 (on a 12.5 kHz step) would be a valid frequency for this system.

Thanks for your response. I just have one more question.

Currently, the 470.0/12.5/380 table is used in the bank programmed for the North Zone freq's, while the 476.0/12.5/520 table is used for the bank for the South Zone.

From what I am reading, with the new South freq's, I need to add the 470.0/12.5/380 table to the bank I have the South Zone freq's in to. Correct?

The short answer is yes. The more complete response is why don't you program both tables in both sites? That way no matter what they do (swapping frequencies from site to site, adding, etc.) you will be covered. I am assuming that you have placed this in two banks so that you can listen to both sites simultaneously. Since I don't know what scanner you are using, this may be the correct solution; some scanners can be programmed with both sites in one bank and still monitor both sites, after all you can only actually listen to one call at a time no matter what site it is coming from. :)

Thanks again Lou
I am using the Pro97, Pro 2051, and Pro2055.
Swapping freq's between the North Zone and the South Zone would be a long shot, located just North of NYC. Having followed the developement of this system, it was difficult just getting any available UHF freq's with the heavy loading from NYC and Northern NJ.
Yes, I have each site in a separate bank.
Obviously with the additions of the freq's, placing both tables in both banks will be an advantage.
Again, thanks Lou.
