Hi I am wondering about the x9000. I know that both the head and the box have to be programed. Is all of the programing done from the box or is their a seprate cabel and software for the head?

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

They both are programmed from the radio programming cable. Note: there are two programs one to program the radio and one to program the head. You will need a slow computer (286/386) running DOS directly not thru Windows.

you may be talking about a syntor x9000, if so, our programming setup is done from the moto rib and a cable that goes between the chassis and control cable connector. there are seperate dos programs for the chassis and head.
I have just purchased a windows 95 laptop with a 486 speed will that work I am talking about the syntor x9000 I think I have seen a moto tech use a windows 95 speed computer to program my dads squad radio which is the same thing

Ive got everything I need to get the radio on the air, but the onlything I'm missing is the programing does anyone happen to have any for sale or know where I can find one, I've checked ebay out with no luck just thought I'd check in here as well thanks
Good luck.. The software which you should be able to only buy from Motorola has long since discontinued.
