• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello. I installed a programmed XPR 2500 yesterday. Tested on multiple channels without issues. Tx and Rx worked flawlessly. Today radio powers on and buttons are completely unresponsive. After 20~30 sec a continuous tone happens until radio is powered off. I have ensure proper voltage to radio. Also to note display shows icons I am unfamiliar with. The icons are:
Antenna (without strength bars)
A solid arrow pointing to the right.
A big letter H

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Guys

Are you able to attach pictures? Where is the radio held? In a car with fluctuating temperatures or inside?

Those icons mean that you are receiving a signal, on direct, and high power.

No actually it was installed in a Gantry crane on a drillship. I have it in the shop in the pics.

I believe a tower with an arrow to the right means it's transmitting and if the green light is solid, that confirms it's transmitting. If the green light is blinking, it's receiving and blinking green twice is data or an encrypted call.

The H is High Power and the key with the slash through it means encryption is not available.

Direct is two vertical lines with an arrow pointing to the right between them. It's not on direct.

Was this on a Capacity Plus trunking system?

No it is not on Capacity Plus.

I just don't understand the radio just becoming unresponsive. As stated above the radio was functioning fine Tx and Rx. Now nothing.

As mentioned above, the radio is stuck in transmit, hence the unresponsive buttons and the TOT after 30 seconds. Check your mic jack and accessory plug to make sure that nothing is shorting and causing it to be transmitting.

Right. Wasn't sure about the direct so I gave it my best guess.

Does it do this on every channel? Or do you not have the option to change channels when you power up at all?
Did the radio write successfully when you programmed it last time?

We can not change channels at all, Also It was programmed when it arrived on board. Almost like its keypad locked or something in that manner

As mentioned, are the mic pins shorted? Hard to see from the pic. Also, check the accessory connector. There is a PTT line there which may be bent or shorted.

I've had moisture get into the mic jack (on a CM200d) and cause all kinds of weird issues due to corrosion.
