Motorola XPR 4550 only displays I.D.

I have a new XPR 4550 radio with the latest firmware and programmed with the latest CPS. The radio is used for amateur DMR and when a received signal comes in the user I.D. no. is displayed and not the call sign and or name of the station calling. I have a CS 750 portable on the same repeater and talkgroup and it displays the callsign and name as it should. Is there something in the CPS I may have missed in the programming?

Do you have names associated with the IDs in the contact list? ID number is the only thing transmitted. Names are looked up based on ID on the receiving side.

It was not necessary to provide names in my contact list on my CS 750. Whenever someone keys on one of the channels on it, it displays the callsign of the transmitting station. Below is the text from the email I got when I received my I.D. This is what I'm referring to.

You have been issued an International ID which works on the DMR networks and
CCS7 networks. It will work immediately on the DMR network. Allow several days
for the CCS7 database to sync up and display your callsign.

I have a CS750 and I had to import the names that are associated with the DMR IDs into my codeplug. There are a few pieces of software that can do this once you obtain a copy of the DMR ID list.. If that importation doesn't take place and my contact list is empty, all I get is DMR IDs that show up when someone transmits.

The last paragraph of you post relates to group who maintains a database and generates DMR IDs for users. That list can be obtained but you'll still need to import the names and DMR IDs into your radio.

Yep. That's it. Another member on here helped me understand what is going on. I did download the code plug from the PRN website and edited as needed. The Motorola XPR, I'm building the code plug from scratch. That explains everything.

I'm glad someone explained it to you. At first blush, the DMR codeplugs can be a bit daunting and understanding how all of the parts fit together can be tough. When I bought my first DMR radio several years ago, I downloaded a completed codeplug and studied it quite a bit. Once I understood how the different tables related to each it it was kind of a "well, duh" moment. Now it all makes sense.

Yeah. That's what I find interesting about all this. I'm new at DMR but not new to the older Motorola radios. mainly HT 1250 & 1550 as well as CDMs. Always enjoy learning to stuff. It's all coming together nicely.
