Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all!

I have a Motorola XPR 5550e that I mainly use for ham radio. Recently, I attempted to add two local Motorola Capacity Plus Multi Site systems to my XPR for monitoring purposes. I followed a set up guide that I found on YouTube, and I thought I had everything correct. I programmed the radio this evening and when I try to go to the channels where I programmed the Capacity Plus personality, the radio flashes "unprogrammed" and emits a tone. This has me stumped as I clearly see programmed channels in the CPS. Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Interesting - I am part of a DMR ham network and they assigned me a seven digit ID that I currently have programmed. So am I pretty much out of luck?

Brandmeister requires the 7 digit ID. If you use other groups or networks, they may allow the ID that works with Cap+. Make sure to use an ID that is NOT a tg on the network.

Yup. Your Cap+ ID MUST be between 1 and 65535. The XPR5550 is not capable of multiple RID either.

This was a huge irritation when I needed to use disparate TRBO systems that each required different IDs. I either had to reprogram or carry multiple radios. Other manufacturers easily allow multiple systems to be programmed at once though (but not the proprietary Moto systems of course). Astro radios will even do it, but not TRBO!

Thanks for the replies everyone! I am on DMR MARC which I believe includes Brandmeister and a few others (NY Metro, NEDECN and CT-ARES.) Since I was only doing this for monitoring purposes, I will probably axe the whole thing. I appreciate everyone responding to me!
