• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Up front, I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to get MOTOTRBO software illegally. Fact is, I have an active subscription to the MOTOTRBO CPS.

I would like to see a sample codeplug for MOTOTRBO if someone would be willing to share their XPR 6550 codeplug. The CPS is different from any MOTO CPS I've dealt with previously, am I'm fairly knowledgeable about using CPS.

The MotoTRBO CPS comes with a bunch of sample codeplugs pre-loaded. They were loaded into the C: > Program Files > Motorola > MotoTRBO CPS > Samples folder. If not I can send you some of the sample codeplugs.

Mototrbo

Thanks, DevilZ

Yes, I've seen those samples. I think it's becoming clear that I need to let the CPS walk me through some of the tutorials so I can learn the software. That's probably what I need most right now. Thanks for your response.

I didn't download the file, but there appears to be a file on businessonline.motorola.com that's a video tutorial for MotoTrbo programming. Too large to fit on the software disk, it says on there.

Oh, and if you're having trouble finding some of the features you need to program, make sure "Expert Mode" is enabled under the View drop-down menu.

How to listen to Mototrbo from a handheld:

Is it possible to listen to the Motorola XPR 6550 on a normal scanner? The local hospital uses them and my scanner "Pro96" doesnt pick it up but will pick up most other radios.

No scanner is capable of decoding TRBO, at least not yet. Will there be one? Probably but have no idea when that will happen. People have had good luck however using a scanner fed into a computer running DSD which can decode TRBO, so long as it's not encrypted. http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Digital_Speech_Decoder_(software_package)

You'll have to have a Mototrbo type radio that it can pick Digital - DMR voice. Also you'll have to know the programming codes and most people won't give that information out.
